| The Province of Lagadas
lies upon the northeast part of the Prefecture of Thessaloniki.
It has completely different ground, economical, social
and demographic attributes compared with the rest of the
prefecture. It is primarily a rural region with a different
growth rate since it includes mountainous and thus disadvantageous
morphology. The mountain chains of Vertiskos, Kerdillia
and Zagliverion shape the sink of Migdonia where the lakes
of Coroneia and Volvi lie while the county ends to the
marine region of Strimonikos gulf. The total area is 2059
km2 (56% of the whole Prefecture) and it includes
13 municipalities, 83 villages with a population
of 70,000 permanent residents. |
As far as it concerns
